Bruno Mars gets off easy in cocaine case
It's another case of celebrity justice as half Filipino, half Puerto Rican Bruno Mars got off practically scot-free in the cocaine case against him.
Bruno was arrested last September at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, where a bathroom attendant told security there was a man inside the stall doing drugs. He was busted with a bag filled with 2.6 grams of cocaine.
Under the deal, Bruno will only have to do 200 hours of community service and undergo private counseling. At the end of a year, the felony will officially be dismissed.
Just like that. As if nothing ever happened.
While it's amazing that Bruno can put this incident past him, especially since his career is unbelievably hot right now and he really does have the potential to be great, it's not so great that yet another celebrity gets away with doing drugs practically without any punishment whatsoever. What kind of message does this send to Bruno's young fans? That as long as you're rich and you're a celebrity you don't actually have to pay for your crimes?
]]>Just look at Charlie Sheen. How many chances is this guy going to get?! His most recent antic landed him in the Cedars-Sinai Hospital after allegedly going on a 36 hour coke binge with a couple of porn stars. Yet as long as he continues to bring in the ratings for "Two and a Half Men" CBS continues to stand by him and his million salary an episode.
What's it going to take for him? Does he have to die for him and CBS to get that this is not OK behavior?
While I love Bruno Mars, and Filipinos all over the world are definitely proud of him, let's hope he can stay on the right track after catching such a lucky break. Just because you're rich and famous, doesn't mean it gives you free reign to break the law. I'm willing to give Bruno a second chance…but let's not push it OK Bruno?
